In 2023, with the falling price and loose supply in thenatural gas market, the sustained economic recovery supported China's demandfor natural gas to a steady upward trend. China's natural gas marketconsumption, production, and imports continued to grow. Consumption increasedby 7% year-on-year, production grew approximately 6% and LNG imports increasedby approximately 13%, making China once again the world's largest importer of LNG.
In 2024, theglobal LNG market is in a state of rebalancing, with international gas pricescontinuing to decline. The slow recovery of European industries and themoderate climate in Northeast Asia are inhibiting the growth of natural gasconsumption. The international natural gas market is in a state of oversupply, and various factors are restraining the rise in gas prices. Although marketprices continue to fluctuate, companies remain optimistic about the long-termgrowth in demand for natural gas. The United States will suspend the approvalof new LNG export projects. As the world's largest exporter of LNG, thisdecision may have an impact on Europe and most Asian LNG importing countries.
